Year 6 kicked off the Spring Term with a visit to Hackney Junior Citizenship Scheme, which hosted the first in person workshops since early 2020!
The students were keen to attend the workshops which were being held at Young Hackney in Dalston. Understanding that they will be making the transition from Primary to Secondary students later this year, students fully engaged in each activity.
There was a drugs awareness workshop where students were taught about the health dangers associated with the use of legal drugs. Pupils enjoyed the Mental Health and Wellbeing session where they learned some of the useful tools which can help them to look after their mental health.
Staff from Transport for London educated pupils on the use of 11 – 15 year old Oyster cards and the correct way to board a bus and use the underground. Lastly, they were taught how to cross the road safely and how to wear the appropriate luminous clothing if cycling in the dark.
